Last night was the annual dinner fundraiser for the Ark where all of the Ark's volunteers and supporters gather in their best duds to celebrate the Ark and it's achievements. Last night's dinner was held at The Ledges golf clubhouse in Huntsville. http://www.theledges.com
The facility there is just beautiful!
The evening began with Nina giving thanks and praise to all those that help support the Ark whether it be physically, emotionally or financially. Without all the hands and hearts involved, the Ark couldn't operate.
The Ark held a silent auction (with all proceeds going to the Ark) at the dinner that consisted of various items including handmade quilts, pet statues, framed art and beautiful jewelry.
There was an incredible Frank Sinatra singer. He was so good that I thought it was a CD playing until Nina introduced him as the entertainer for the night.
Dinner this year was buffet style, with formal place settings. Items on the menu were, sliced beef and pork, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls and a scrumptious dessert of either apple crisp or bread pudding.
Both the beef and pork were so tender and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were melt in your mouth and reminded me of some of granny's good potatoes. The green beans were steamed to the perfect consistency and lightly seasoned with an onion salt. And of course, the rolls were moist and had a nice crisp exterior.
After eating a luscious meal, we enjoyed a superb dessert. I was particularly partial to the Apple crisp. The apples were so sweet and the sauce was a fruity dream topped with a crunchy brown sugar granola. It was a lovely dessert.
The auctions were a success and raised some much needed funds for the Ark animals.
We were very blessed with good food and great company. Another successful Ark event!
